How much of the chamber is unsupported?  And is the 50GI a good candidate for such a design?

I honestly wish they would go the other way and make a .44 round.  There are lots of great 44 bullets so make something like a 10mm class pressure but with a .44 bullet even if it is nothing more then a recreated 44 auto mag with a shortened case to fit in the Glock 20 pistol.

I don't see much use for this .50 round personally

This is the same thing they originally sold in a super-sized 1911 platform. I guess making Glock top ends instead of full 1911s will make this appeal to more people.

That said, OUCH!

It costs more than a complete new Glock.

That's more than I'm willing to pay for a novelty.

Is that slide dimensionally the same as a G20/21?

Seems like they took off quite a bit of metal to fit that muzzle in.

I'm sitting here staring at the feed lips on a G21 mag and wondering, how the heck is that fat .50 round gonna fit into, and get out of a magazine?

ETA:  Oh, I see now.  They use their own proprietary mags.  No thank you.

I don't really shoot my G21s anymore (since switching to XD-45s), so I might actually condsider one of these...

I really hope this gives the 50GI a jumpstart.  Per the website the 50GI operates at low preasure and judging by the case it doesn't seem to me that much of it would be unsupported.  I'm sure bullet feeding is an issue that Guncrafter is well on top of.  The guys running it are excellent smiths.  I like it but until other mfgs are making ammo I think I will just admire it from pictures.

Marginal gain over 45ACP
Definitely NOT for bears.
Pushing about 650 ft/lbs from what I can tell.
44 MAG is over 1000 ft/lbs and considered by people smarter than me, which ain't saying much, to be the minimum needed for bears.
I sure wish someone would make a upper for the G21 that shoots a cartridge with at least 1000 ft/lbs.  I would jump on it!
Headed to Alaska again this summer.

Marty DiBergi: Does that mean it's louder? Is it any louder?
Nigel Tufnel: Well, it's one louder, isn't it? It's not ten. You see, most blokes, you know, will be playing at ten. You're on ten here, all the way up, all the way up, all the way up, you're on ten on your guitar. Where can you go from there? Where?
Marty DiBergi: I don't know.
Nigel Tufnel: Nowhere. Exactly. What we do is, if we need that extra push over the cliff, you know what we do?
Marty DiBergi: Put it up to eleven.
Nigel Tufnel: Eleven. Exactly. One louder.
Marty DiBergi: Why don't you just make ten louder and make ten be the top number and make that a little louder?
Nigel Tufnel: [pause] These go to eleven.

Any convincing arguments on why .50GI is superior to 10mm?
3/29/2008 11:35:24 PM EDT

I'd save the money and just shoot .45 Super.

And I don't care who makes it, a 300 grain bullet at 860 fps is not .44 Magnum terrority.

Because "fifty caliber" will piss of anti-gun liberals far more than "ten millimeter" ever will, reality and terminal ballistics notwithstanding.
