What is the Arfcom consensus on ported Glocks? I am thinking of having one of my 36s ported for the hell of it. I know about the possible negative side of it, flash(not as bad as some say I have been told) and the possibility of gas blasting you if you fire from a tucked position. Does anyone here have a ported 36? I am looking at these three companies. The top one most resembles Factory porting and that one is my favorite. gunrepair.biz/glockporting.html www.rockyourglock.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=RS&Product_Code=LWD-PRT&Category_Code=Porting www.apwcogan.com/porting.htm I am not worried about hurting resale value as the guns already have grip reductions and the damage is done so to speak. I asked this over at Glock Talk as well but I am not getting any play. I must not be special enough. |

gunrepair.biz/glockporting.html I don't remember who did mine but it is very similar to this guy. I had it done back in the early 90's to my G21 and it has served me well. |
| I have a 23c, andm love it. As far as recoil goes, I think there is no reduction, I have shot a 23 nonported next to mine several times. What I do love about it is muzzle flip is greatly reduced. The kick is more straight back with the 23c, kinda like a pistol grip shotgun. It makes for super fast accurate shooting. |
Muzzle flip is part of recoil. I had a 23c and never had any problems with excessive flash and did notice less recoil. |
| Big +1 on the reduction of muzzle flip. The only thing I don't like about my 22c is that the front sight gets dirty and thus harder to see. Probably not an issue for carrying it (unless your in an extended firefight, in which case you're probably F'd if all you have is a pistol anyway). But I do end cleaning the front sight every 30 rounds or so on the range. |
