Its been shot 20 rounds since new .Anyway would it hurt to put the new style guide rod and spring in . And also should I send it back to be upgraded with new style parts . I no a glock is a glock .But it was a old one thats like new

Yes, if you want to shoot it send it back and have an upgrade done on it. I would, however, ask if they might send the original parts back with the gun...probably not but worth a try.

Glock will not give you your old parts back if you have them upgrade it.  Just FYI.  I wouldnt risk sending into Glock.

If you can find a Glock Certified Armorer in your area they will do the up grade but you
will have to pay for the parts. That way you can keep the old black parts. I have done
that to 3 that I own.

I dont know the specifics, but one of the upgrades has something to do with the firing pin and firing mechanism.

I read one story of a guy sending in his early import Glock 17 (with Austrian proofs) for parts upgrades and the factory noticed a small chip on the frame.  They sent the Glock back to him with a new 3rd generation frame and destroyed his 1st generation frame.  I would be pissed.  This is why I wont send any of my Glocks I bought for their history back to Glock.  I will have a local guy do any work on them.
