store.ar15.com/store/product.html?cat=3&prod=84 never tried them but I've heard good things. if your going to get one i would get this one. |
well i was asking specifically about the internal one... |
whats the range and visibility of them?? any good for outdoor shooting? |
That depends on the amount of daylight and the distance, of course. On a bright, sunny day they aren't much good beyond 25 yards (with my old eyes, YMMV) which is as far as I would rely on them at all anyway, and the color/material of the target can affect visibility quite a bit as well. I find the pulsating beam of the LaserMax easier to find/less likely to wash out, but others decidedly do not like that feature. Overcast at all, I can see them clearly far beyond their useful range; dusk or darker, indoors, etc. farther still. Keep in mind that a lasersight is no substitute for conventional sighting/aiming, merely an additional option for those rare situations where they might be needed. In the dark and/or when a traditional sight picture cannot be obtained (shooting around/through an irregular barrier, shooting impaired/wounded, etc.) are times when a laser really shines (no pun intended Some knowledgeable folks regard them as useless toys and/or distractions to shooting fundamentals and they are, of course, entitled to their opinions. Many others realize the added potential a lasersight, properly used, can bring to a firearm. I side with the latter and consider them to be another tool in the toolbox -- one which may only be necessary in very rare instances but one I'd rather have and not need than need and not have. |
| I have had the Lasermax internal setup in my Glock 21 for about 4 years now, I like it. Never any issues with it. Lasermax advertises it +/- 2 inches at 25 yards - if I remember correctly. It is also the only Nato approved internal laser system. It is a red pulsing beam, pretty cool. |
