I bought a used Glock 23 (2nd gen) to see if I liked it for CCW. It looked barely used. Ive put 500 rds thru it so far.(dont know what the previous rd count was) After about 250 rds the slide stop spring broke and the slide would lock after every shot, Ive sinced replaced it. This will be my primary CCW. I was wondering what else you would suggest replacing, if anything, to decrease the chances of a future failure. Also, what are your opinions on extended magazine and slide releases? and which ones would you recommend?

Replace all the other springs and you should be good to go, and I don`t like extended magazine and slide releases on a carry gun.

ditto to all.

Extractor and recoil spring are the most important ones

Thanks for the info. Ill replace the springs and keep the gun factory. Who do you recommend as a source for factory parts? Contact Glock directly?

I would look for a local GSSF event and take it there. The Glock armorers on hand will replace all the springs for free and they will also upgrade any small parts if they need it.

I've bought a lot of used Glocks.  Never found the need to replace any springs, except the recoil spring.  Slide stop springs' breaking is extremely rare and is usually due to incorrect installation.  I use steel guide rods and recoil springs appropriate for the caliber/loads that I'm shooting.  Glock .40s are undersprung from the factory.

At the top of the forum there is a source link for Glock vendors. Take a peek at it.

I did. But no offense, the list seems kind of short for such a popular weapon and I wasnt sure if I would be better off contacting Glock directly for parts. Next time I will word my questions better.

None taken. I'm sure there are LOTS of dealers in glock parts BUT, i tried to compile a list of dealers with good reps on this board.

Glock won't sell you parts unless you are a certified Glock armorer.
