I've got a 3rd gen G22 that I'd like to get a light for. I remember awhile back there was a recall on G22 or some PD traded theirs in because of FTF with a light attached. All I can remember is that the lights affected the way the frame is supposed to flex when fired/under recoil. Was this the result of non-Glock lights? Is the Glock light the best bet for the G22? The TLR-1 from Streamlight seems like a good unit, LED, aluminum housing, brand name recognition... I appreciate comments from those currently using a light on their Glocks or pointers to other reference material. Regards and Merry Christmas to you and yours. Thanks for all your input. I've purchased a TLR-1 and will give it a try with 3 new magazines (#8 follower) and a couple hundred rounds to prove reliability. It is definitely a bright little light and seems to balance well with at least 5 rounds in the magazine. |
+1..I have one on my 23, I got it from Bright Flashlights, a dealer here. TLR-1 ad |
That was an old problem and it was fixed... I think the problem was with Glock 17s just the same but regardless you never hear of that anymore. The issue was with any light mounted on the rail. As for the light, anything is better then nothing and I have a couple of the ITI M3 LEDs that I really like and I recently purchased one of the new Surefire x300 LED lights and that is a fantastic light! I have the Surefire with my SHTF gun (Glock 17) as that light is clearly much stronger then the M3 LED units! It is much brighter then the M3 and with the LEDs it is rated to give better battery life too. I still like the M3LED for in-home (I have one on my HD Glock 21) as the small 1-watt LED provides a little illumination without giving away your location and yet the white light is bright enough to blind and allow clear shots. The disadvantage is that it is pretty big and not as strong as newer lights. I don't carry that Glock with the light mounted so it will last just fine as a nightstand gun. |
| I carry a G22 on duty and had a TLR-1 on it for a short time...........I only had a level 2 Safariland duty holster so I took it off.........Just ordered a Blackhawk Level 3 Serpa duty holster with Xiphos NT weapon light in September...............havent got it yet but it looks sweet...........it has a strobe feature for that disorienting daze............though that may not be very useful if clearing a building.....you might think your in a ghetto club with disco lights........for the money, you can't go wrong with a Streamlight product.....especially the TLR1/TLR2 lights. Just my .02. |

+1 on the TRL-1. Its on my nightstand gun. I was amazed at how bright it is! http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff70/eques_02/Glock17.jpg |
| i have an m6 that i have used on all my handguns with a light rail and i have no complaints, what makes it even better is that it didn't cost me a dime! they are great little lights and there are many holster options out there for em i like that i don't have to screw/unscrew anything it slips on and off when i need it too. |
| My wife got me a Streamlight M3 for Christmas a couple of years ago for my 21. I put 500 rds thru it with the light attached with no problems before I was fully convinced that it would not affect the function of the weapon. The light held up great too, by the way. I also have a mount on my 870 for it. Only problem was the lens of the light got very dirty and caused areas to not be fully illuminated, but if you need 500 rds in a gunfight bring a rifle not a pistol. I like the light on the pistol or shotgun in case I am awakened at night. |

I've used the M3, TLR1, TLR2, Surefire 200's, and now a Surefire 300. My only advice is try the light on your gun. I've seen some guys put a Surefire on their gun and it jams constantly. When they switch to another light, no problems. The problem seems most prevelant in .40 cal Glocks and Glock claimed it was mag related and changed their springs. Again, for some guns new mags helped, some it didn't. Just try it out. |
