I am considering buying a G29 for backpacking purposes. I have a G26, and it fits my short fingered paws nicely. I use a 15 round G19 mag with a spacer in the G26, and intend to do the same thing with a G20 mag in the G29.

My concern is the girth of the G29 frame. How much bigger around, if any, is the 10mm frame than the 9mm frame? Never held one, and want to be sure I will be able to reach the trigger before buying one sight unseen.

The G29 is 2.5mm wider then the G26. It is noticable but it will depend on you.
See if you can find one to rent at a local range......

While it may not sound like much, it is actually a significant difference in my hand. I felt the power was worth it in the long run, but it's not a 27 that you can easily carry all day long without noticing it.

I have small hands and the G20 feels fine to me, but the G29 seems to fat.

I finally picked up the OD G29 over the weekend. It is significantly bigger than the G26 in every aspect. After installing extended mag and slide releases, I can actually manipulate them better than my G26 with stock controls. A few mags are loaded up with various types of DoubleTap ammo in hopes of giving it a spin tomorrow. In a nutshell, with the extended controls, the G29 is very manageable.
