I was out with the G30 today and 90% of the ejected brass hit me square in the forehead. The few rounds that had enough arc landed on top, and rolled down. ![]() This is a new occurence, and it happens with multiple ammunitions. Is this a sign of a worn or bent extracor? It's kinda humorus for awhile, but after 200-300 rounds it blows. Over. |
It's a new issue, so I think it can be corrected. Besides, I have a "special connection" with this pistol and will never sell it.

Unless you've just "all of a sudden" developed a bad grip, then the most likely culprit is gunk in the extractor plunger channel or under the extractor. Do a detail strip and clean those areas thoroughly. Make sure that you don't let any oil get into either the f.p. or extractor channel. Unless you've recently installed a new recoil spring, then the above would be my best guesses. Usually, straight-back case ejection is a result of limpwristing (doesn't seem to be the case here), week ammo (you said it happened with different ammo), or a recoil spring that's too strong for the loads being fired. |

Thread resurrection... I got out to the range today and compared my extractor with a buddies G30. Quite frankly, I'm surprised it ejects brass at all. Where the "hook" (not real technical I know ) is, I have NOTHING. I suppose 10,000+ rounds will wear it huh?Sooo...Is there anything special I need to look for when buying a replacement, or are all extractors created equal? Is there anything else I should replace at the same time (extractor spring etc..)? I have never detail stripped my G-lock (I know, I know) and wonder if I could do it with the aid of a pictoral tutorial. My reading comprehension is age appropriate, and I can work a punch. What are my chances of screwing it up? |
Who did you cap with it? Tell the story, please...for training purposes, of course. |
detail stripping is really easy. Most common mistake I think is getting the slide stop installed incorrectly and the gun locking up after every shot. |
ND and only a moron would do that. Oh wait.....

Myself... See link in my sigline.
Play nice... |
Replace the extractor (gun generation specific, loaded chamber indicator or not, extractor degree cut) and also inspect/replace the extractor depressor and depressor spring and spring loaded bearing. These parts all work in unison for the proper extraction of your firearm. Goodluck! |
ND and brass to the forehead! that weapon has it out for him ya think!

Looking at the top of the slide (unload gun first |
