| Does anyone know if Glocks can be collectable? The reason I'm asking is I have an unfired Glock 19 with the nitro proof marks all over the place. I'm not sure how old she is either but I have had her since 2004. |
| I have no digital camera but envision a normal looking brand new 19. On the top of the barrel block behind he caliber designation is eagle with a NVP POR, on the right side of the slide is an eagle with a NPV and a Glock logo and on the right side of the frame above the trigger guard is another eagle with a NPV stamped into the polymer. The gun has night sights and says Made in Austria. Again, I have never fired her but am thinking of doing so and using her as a CCW weapon. Should I shoot her or just get the 33 model that I want. |
| Tucked back in my closet is a first generation G17 (CYxxx Serial Number) with the original box, manual, and 2 original mags. In the store I used to work, we were talking about how the collector guns of today (pre-64 Winchesters, 1903s, SxS shotguns, etc.) were a dime a dozen back in the day. Everyone had one or knew someone who did. Now they are more rare and worth, in some cases, quite a bit. So we thought what guns today would be collectibles later. I came up with the idea of a first generation Glock 17. I hope my prediction is right years from now. |

The problem is that glock made bazzillions of the same thing, and each generation improves. For example, S&Ws are collectable because they have a varied line, limited runs, and the older guns were made to a higher standard - i.e. registered magnums>pre numnerical>pinned and recessed numerical>post P&R but still forged>MIM stuff>MIM with lock. Glocks go the other way - they get better. Rarely is a gun valuable because it is old - old, rare, better made than current crop, etc is what does it. |
| 17L- it is one of the lowest production glocks...bottom line if you buy a gun and think your going to shoot it and sell it at a higher price your incorrect. guns take several decades to appreciate in value. that is unleass your buying a colt SAA first/second gen. |
I'd like to have .380 Glock just for fun since I have other .380's already and reload for it. Not to be for the USA I guess |
very true - and to put a point on the issue, the 17L can be had for $550-600 on Glocktalk fairly regularly. |
