What does the other side of the slide look like. Did they "run over" the factory markings?

i left the other side original. John at Jojos suggested to leave it since cutting would runit the rollmarks.

I never had any issues racking the slide before, but i do find that the front serrations do add a bit of grip when checking the chamber.

Checking the chamber by grasping the front of the slide is a really bad idea.  Good work, but now you have an asymmetrical Glock!

Shit, your right. I guess this glock will not be winning any bodybuilding contests

I have numerous 1911's with front serrations. What is the downside to using the front of the slide to check the chamber?
