Grind down a pair of forceps until they are thin enough to grab that pin on the under side of the front sight. Pull it out and gently remove the front sight from above with a pair of pliers. It can then need reinstalled later if need be. It's the sights that are a metal oval crimped/staked in place that can be a bear to remove. You need a staking tool to remove and insert those. |
Glock redesigned their rear tool again? WTF? How did that one work for you? WHat sights did you push in? Here is my horror story: www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=5&f=13&t=40861 |

I actually haven't used it yet. It appears to be the same tool from your picture. (GLOCK factory rear sight tool, designed for large and small slides) I have seen the same style tool used before, and it went flawlessly. I wonder if the problem just lies with Trijicon's rear sight? The other two tools are front sight tools, the long one has the hex driver for aftermarket (Trijicon style) nuts, and the other is the crimper for GLOCK factory night sights, which I love btw, despite all the bad rap they have, I don't have an issue with them. |

Is it rare? I just know that everyone wants too much to install night sights, and I can't afford to go to GLOCK every time, like I did with my G22 and G27. Also, I don't care what anyone says, I like the GLOCK night sights, so I am set up to install them myself. Funny story, I'll bet yall will like this... I was on duty (I work in West GA) and I had to go to Clayton County (under Atlanta) to pick up a wanted guy. Well I figured on my way I'd swing by GLOCK and have them put some night sights on my G22. So I stopped in, and met with the armorer. I told him that I wanted the GLOCK night sights and an extended slide stop lever. Took a little over a half an hour and he brought it back to me like with what I had asked for. GLOCK charged me $57 for the sights (the cost of the sights) and nothing for the extended slide stop lever or labor. Sweet right? So a couple of months later I go buy a G27 at Smyrna Police Distributors (a couple of miles up the road from GLOCK). Well they wanted like 70 something bucks for the same night sights to be installed on my G27. So I said nah, and got stock plastic sights. I figured I'd swing by GLOCK on my way out and have them install them (hoping I'd get the same deal I got with my G22). So I stopped in at GLOCK immediately after leaving SPD. I met with another armorer. (very cool guy, we BSed about some stuff for a while) I told him I wanted the GLOCK night sights and an extended slide stop lever like on my G22 (that way they are set up the same, because my G27 is my backup gun on duty). He said no sweat and took it back. He thought it was funny that I had JUST bought the gun. (Serious, it was like 10 mins old to me). Well about 10 mins later he brought it back out to me with the GLOCK night sights and an extended slide stop lever. I asked him how much I owed him...... wait for it........ ...... $0 GLOCK is awesome. That is all. |
If someone told you that you cannot replace your factory Glock sight, I suggest you drop what you are doing at this very moment, find that person and ![]() ![]() . Yes, I want you to hit them with a stick, smack them, and then scold them in that exact order. Get yourself a set of night sights and replace them plastic bitches!
