I have a G22 and every time i load a full mag into the mag well and slap it in, The slide slams forward automatically racking the round in the chamber. Now does any 1 else have this problem? or is this normal? If it's not normal what can be the problem? Thanks in advance guys and stay safe! |
How old it the G22? Most Glocks will close if you "slap" the mag in. However if it does it real easy you may need to replace the slide stop lever. The spot that catches the slide might be rounded and/or the spring might be weak. |

Its a first generation glock. it does take a hard slap for the slide to shoot forward, but i jusr wanted to make sure i wasn't the only having this issue. Posted by m-dc: I do not however use this as some sort of misguided loading proceedure, just load the mag till I feel the catch. <shrugs> Under stressful situations no human has tendency to take things calmly and feel for the catch to engage. The least I haven’t. |
I for one would not pratice that technique as a standard way to reload the weapon. If however it happened during a gun fight pull the trigger and hope for the best. The reason I say this is that if for whatever reason the slide went forward before picking up a round there you are sitting with what you think is a charged weapon when in fack it is not. |
+1 You don't know what may or may not be in the chamber. Check the slide stop notch in the slide. Perhaps some masturbator has been using the slide stop as a slide release excessively and rounded the notch off. I've heard this can happen to people who get some kind of thrill by dropping their slide with the slide release like a TV star or some shit. |

Try pushing the mag firmly into the mag well, instead of slamming it in, if this anomaly is bothering you. Also, if the muzzle is pointed down, instead of up, the slide is less likely to drop when the mag is slammed in. Let's play a friendly game. You load your G22, as you described, with the slide "automatically" going into battery. You give me $1 for every time the slide chambers a round properly, and I'll give you a dollar for every time the slide doesn't chamber a round properly. I'm willing to go up to 1000 loadings. |

It does take some force but i would like to get rid of the Issue if possible. If that doesn't work then, I feel better knowing it's a common thing and my Glock aint a POS. I ordered a new slide stop. Lets c if that work's. I'll keep u guys posted. Once again thanks u guys. |
| My first department issued Glock 22 did the same thing. The range staff didn't see it as a problem at the time. However, one day while shooting on my own dime, the slide would lock back after every shot ( Thank goodness it was at the range and not on the street.) I was quickly re-issued a new Glock and I now carry a BUG (Glock 27). |
It is helpful if it loads a round every time. I have seen them slam shut without loading a round. I really dont want to risk it in a fire fight, best to rack the slide to make sure in combat. I have had four different Glocks, a few of them issued and some of them personal. All of them gen 3 and only one of them released the slide when I slammed the mag. |
