I currently own a Glock 19. It is my SHTF gun and i have about 7 mags for it. I want to get the family of 9mm Glocks and I am eyeing a 26. My question is: Does glock plan on changing the desigen of the 26 anytime soon? i really dig the look now but i want a front rail to add a tac light.  I have seen the aftermarket ones an they just dont do it for me. amy help would be appreciated, thanks

Glock Inc is famously closed mouthed about changes and new models.  You'll have to wait until the Shotshow to see what comes out.  I doubt there will be anything drastic.  Glock is also famous for incremental changes.

There was a thread here last night about the new G19, with pics from an Austrian? paper.  It now has a manual safety.

It was not clear if this will be an option, or standard on all models - sorry, i'm too lazy to try and find it

The G26 does not have a big enough dust cover to support a factory light rail.

Just a stupid question.  I just got a g26, I use it for CCW.  To me it seems silly to put a tac light on something that is as small as your hand.  Most lights are damn near the size of the gun itself.

I agree - for what the G26 was really intended for, just put night sights on it and be done with it.  The light would make it much less sleek for concealment and most parking lots/alleys aren't that dark.

If I felt like I needed the light I would also feel like I needed a G17 or 34 for the job, which accommodate a light much better.

I beg to differ, i would just like the option open to accept one. I guess i am just envious of the XD sub compacts front light rail. I just dont want to go out and get a new one when in 4 months they will come out with a new version with the tac light rail already on it. thats why i asked, to each their own.

I believe that on the XD subs you need to use the mini light. I think a ful size light like a steramlight the muzzle blast woud toast your light with any extensive shooting.

JonnyRockO, I don't think either Blacksnake or myself were attacking your wants on the g26.  Sure a rail is always a nice feature on any gun (in my opinion, it's like free leather seats in a new car, you don't turn it down if it's a freebie).  But I think he and I both agree that a tac light on a gun that is made for the utmost in concealment is just plain silly.  If you are on the fence about buying a g26 but want the rail... then wait.  Obviously there isn't such a feature right now.  You might want to inquire with Glock if you are wondering about future possibilities of a rail added to a g26.  But I'm just not seeing the practicality and I'd bet the designers @ Glock don't either.  But you never know they might see Springfield adding them to XD Sub's and decide to play ball next year.

+1 not an attack, it's just that the G26 was intended for deep concealment and backup for a primary weapon and not as a tactical piece with light rail, etc.

No offense taken! mine as well was not an attack. I just get frustrated when i buy something new and then the next year it comes out redesigned with better features!

Hahhah eFFn Murphy's Law!  I think everyone would be happy to find that Murphy guy and beat his drunk Irish ass for his "law".  It's the way things work.  It happens to all of us.
