I've been looking at doing my own parts upgrade to my Gen-2 G17 versus sending it back to Glock to have it done.

Since I'd be swapping most of the parts out and have the gun broken down anyhow, I figured a little homework to see other improved parts are available that I could replace to make my G17 run even better.

Came across the "NY Trigger Spring" as one of the available parts and I have no idea what it is or does.  Hopefully you folks can help me out on this one.

Is it a drop in replacement to the existing trigger spring?

What are the advantages of going with a NY trigger spring?

NY1? or NY2?

What does it do for a G17 performance-wise?

Thanks in advance for all help/advice.

Frank ,
The NY trigger spring is orange and gives you a 12 lbs trigger pull. The other NY trigger is olive color and is 8 lbs trigger pull. I have heard the NYPD went to these because there were to many officers shooting themselves in the foot.

I would go with the standard 5 lbs glock trigger spring with a 3.5lbs connector. This will give you a light trigger pull for more accuracy. These are a gray color. Go to www.lonewolfdistributers.com. They will have all these parts and it is the best company for glock parts I have ever dealt with.

The NY spring gives you a revolver type trigger pull. Depending on the combination of NY1 or NY2 and the connector you choose(#3.5, #5 or #8) will determine the pull weight. The NY spring is a factory made part and drops in without any mods.

It is advised in every Glock Armorer School that you do not use the 8# connector with the NY1 or NY2 trigger

Been carrying a Glock 17 professionally for 16 years in NY. The NY1 is an 8 lb pull that is actually preferrable to the stock 5 lb'r in that it is MUCH crisper, don't do the NY2 it is 12lbs and spongy as hell. NYSP got their Glocks in 1990 and that's actually the impetus for the different trigger springs. NYPD had nothing to do with it, they are actually pretty good shots for the most part. Whenever you get 48,000 people together some will not be up to everyone's standards.
