picked up the 19 about 2 weeks ago and took it shooting. love the feel of the gun and everything about it, except for the fact im gettin hit in the head with the brass its not everytime but it is enough to get old fast. Is there a known problem for the glocks not ejecting the brass far enough? It may be me personally becuase i tend to hold pistols more to the left(right handed/left eye dominance) but have never had this happen with any other pistols.

There's more than one factor influencing the ejection; firmness of hold extractor tension ejector angle/shape recoil spring strength power of the cartridge bullet weight those come to my tired mind right away. I have my brass in one G23 with a 9mm conversion barrel but 40 trigger housing hitting me always on my shooting glasses or forehead, too. There is no general problem with Glocks not ejecting cartridges right, you will have to find your individual solution. As mentioned before, a little more info on the gun might enable members here to help you better. |
| its an older preban(in Ma) think its a gen2 but not positive. going to check the date as soon as i have a chance. As far as my grip or anything like that it does not happen with any of the other pistols i shoot so i have a feeling it may be the gun itself becuase my father also caught a few in the forhead shooting it. |

Alright, that gives us something to work with. Have you detail stripped the slide? Is there a grime-build-up/grease around the extractor? Have you tried different ammo? You can check the recoil spring, even though it's no fool proof way, by holding the unloaded weapon up, pulling the slide back while pulling the trigger and slowly releasing the slide. Particularly slow for the last inch. It should lock up by itself. If the barrel does not go to a fully locked position, it might be your recoil spring assembly. Availabe from Glockparts.com or www.ombExpress.com. Your ejector should appear bent inwards for a 9mm. The .40 SW is a straight ejector. Let's go from here. |

Read this link and don't do a thing to pistol except pull it fully apart, clean/wipe all the parts down with rubbing alcohol, and them put if back together. Note: No where did I write to use oil or lube on the pistol, so don’t. Lets just get the pistol clean first (Glocks do not need to be oiled/lubed to function), and see if that solves the problem. http://www.alpharubicon.com/mrpoyz/glock/ |
I have two G19s that have not been upgraded but run fine, one for over 50,000 rounds. You can distinguish the old parts from the ones that were upgraded by the colour; the old parts(trigger bar etc.) are a dark grey, the upgraded parts are silver coloured. |

My Gen-2 G17 does it to me all the time. I'm right eye dominate, so its not that bad. My buddy who is right-handed and left eye dominate just wears a cap to avoid getting hit and burned. If its one of the older G19s, it might be worth a call to Glock just to see if any upgrades are needed and what they can do for you. -Frank |
