| I was surfin the official Glock site and saw that the model 18 is thier machine pistol. Anyone ever seen one or own one? If you got pics I would like to see. GLOCKS RULE! |
| I've seen em in action-well basically the same thing. It's just a model 17 that has a full-auto selector (as far as I know). If I've seen people "burp" it and be reasonably accurate at close range. Most of the guys I saw shoot it (who didn't have previous machine pistol experience) couldn't hit shit with it. I suspect that without a LOT of practice, I could put more bullets in the target (v. over it) on semi auto. They are pretty cool though. |
| Our dept has several that we use for support weapons. I got to shoot one last fall during our firearms training. Put a 17 round mag through it on auto and was suprised how accurate I was. It has the compensated barrel which helps keep the muzzle down. Funnest gun I have ever shot. |
| Never gonna' se one, as they are banned for sales in the U.S Even if Glock did sell them here, as a fully automatic gun, it would take a FFL Class III to get one and a Class III is reserved for military, police only. Damn shame though as I sure would scarff one up in a minute ! |
This info is misleading. A title II manufacture license will get a civilian a dealer sample glock 18. I don't believe there were any transferrable pre 86 model 18s. "Class 3" firearms are not restricted to military and police. Registered weapons prior to 86 are transferrable, after 86 can only move from dealer to dealer. |
Ummm I think you may be mis informed there. Much like innocent bystander mentioned, you still have transferrable Class3 floating around. Class 3 firearms can be owned by civilians if you can afford it. TX is one of the few states that allow Class 3 weapons, along with AZ, FL, GA, VA, and most southern states that I know. All that is needed a form4 signed by your local CLEO, District Attorney or Federal Judge. Then turn that in to the ATF with $200 for your tax stamp. Wait for a background check and approval which can take to about 90days. Then you got yourself a class 3 weapon. One of the guys I go shooting with got his back in 80 days I believe, for his M16. Now the Glock 18 is another story. As far as I know they are restricted much like the FN P90. |
| Yeah the G18 and G18C are restricted by Glock. Only LE and Govt' can purchase them They run about $575.00 out the door. They come with three Glock +2 magazines (the magazines hold 19 rounds instead of 17).Glock offers a special armorer's and user's course for the weapon. My department has an 18C. It's fun but does have some quirks- first the compensated barrel cooks the front sight if its plastic or explodes the night sights due to the heat generated. Second without a stock anymore than three rounds go up and over the right shoulder. It does fire fast- it's fun to just squeeze the trigger and watch six or seven empties hang in the air for a second. It is pretty accurate in semi @ 50 feet and 75 feet. On full auto w/o a stock its good to 25 feet on two to three round bursts. They should have made it like the old HK VZ70P machine pistols with a three round burst. |
