I have a Glock 19 that I use as my daily carry piece.  I like to practice w/ it often, and while firing it at the range yesterday the trigger failed to reset.  I cleared the gun, and then proceded to disassemble it.   I noticed that a spring in the gun was broken.  I am not sure what this spring is called so I will try my best, and I don't have my digital camera right now, so I can't post pics.  It is the spring furthest to the rear of the frame.  I would call it a trigger return spring, and part of it has a hook on it that is connected to the frame.  I didn't know how hard these are to replace, or if I should just take it to a gunsmith.
Thanks

Glocks are incredibly easy to fix.

First off, it is REALLY easy to work on Glocks, goto www.glocktalk.com and you can download the complete disassembly directions.  Also, call Glock they will probably send you a new spring for free and go through some other checks the make sure you weapon is finctioning properly.  You can take the whole Glock apart with just a punch, I mean the whole thing, not just a strip down for cleaning.  Good luck

most common mistake is during re-assembly the spring that holds the slide lock is installed above the pin

I think there are like most Glock parts, about $3.

It should take an armourer 30 seconds to replace.

Is it that?

Take it to a Glock armorer.

How many rounds are through your G19? If you have around 10K you might want to just send it back to Glock. They'll not only replace that spring but they'll replace all the others as well free of charge.

Was it the connector? it's not a spring but could cause that type of failure.

It sounds like he is describing the trigger spring.  A little coil spring that connects the trigger bar to the trigger mechanism housing.  It is not uncommon for this spring to break.  A cheap fix.

Find a GLock armorer to check out the other springs and refresh it all.  If there is a Glock GSSF match they will do that for free.

sounds like you broke the S spring on your glock no prob to fix about $5.00 and 30 seconds of work should do it [

That is correct on the s spring, call Glock and they will mail you out a new one.  Then take it to an Glock Armorer and have them put it in for you!!

Ahh, the nice things about Glock. If and when something breaks, they usually keep going. In the case of  the trigger spring, which if broken would prevent the trigger from resetting, in a pinch, you could always put your finger behind the trigger and push it forward to reset it.

+1

I've broken 1 trigger return spring in my G19 & so has my dad in his G23.  When you get a replacement, order spares. Luckily for my dad, I had a spare on hand to get him back up in running in no time.

The trigger spring is the Achilles' heel on a Glock. If you want to change it yourself - and that should be the fastest way - you can find the instructions online at Glockmeister, for instance. The spring is easily changed and I would recommend to get another spare at this time.

This is also a good time to detail strip it and clean it, particularly the firing pin channel.

+1 on the firing pin channel cleaning.  Keep it oil-free.
