Go with Meprolights they are way brighter than Trijicon. I have them on my G27. |
Oh! It'll be tough shooting 9's when you're used to .45. I jumped from 1911s to a Glock 19 and jumped right back! I was feeling majorly underpowered with a 9mm. Then I found the 40 cal Glock G22... Capacity and POWER??? I NEVER LOOKED BACK, BABY! |
True story. Just loading up these mags the 9mm's seem so small and light compared to the .45...even if the difference is only --->W<---that much. I figured if I learn to love this thing I'll pick up a G23 for carry. |

I have Meprolite on mine. I have orange rear and green front. The green is brighter than the orange. It's more noticeable it dim light as opposed to darkness. You can still see the rear sights just fine but the front stands out a lot more. Although for close range defensive shooting getting the front sight on the bad guy is what's important. I choose orange/green because I didn't want to have to deal with three green dots. The stress of a defensive situation is bad enough without having to decide which dot is which. |
+1 on Mepro's, by far the brightest sights I've used. Forget Trijicon, there just too small and fade fast. |
Welcome to the dark side .Meprolite sights on 2 of my 3 glocks (the other Trijicons - issued that way). I like the Mepros better. And ain't nuttin wrong with the 9mm. Everyone I've seen shot with it recently had no complaints (but they weren't talking much - and the last one was from a Glock 9mm - go figure). And I like the OD guns - I need to get another (that'll make the wifey happy - another Glock). |
Rub it in why don't ya! |
Now why on earth would I do that.

Thanks for the welcoming. ![]() I was a bit worried that my 1911 and G17 would battle to the death today out shooting but they got along well I'm happy to say. Hawkeye, Nice OD collection!! You have good taste in firearms, in fact I think I may be the owner of a Kimber TLE/RLII that you once owned. |

Mini Range Report: I went shooting today with some of the other ARFCOM guys from my area. We've been setting up different defensive type courses, I ended up using the Glock all day. To keep it short and sweet, I'm impressed! Felt good in my hands, much better than I remember full size Glocks feeling a few years ago. Accuracy was good although I didnt shoot any award winning clover leaf patterns since we were focusing on putting shots on target as quickly as possible, which it did quite well. Bottom line: It's a keeper!! |
Congrats sir! Welcome to the right side.

not a fan of glocks version of od green...but nice choice none the less ________________________________________________________________ And they were not commanded except to worship Allah alone making the Deen (religion) pure and sincerely for Him alone, and to establish the Salaah (prayer) and to pay the Zakat, and that is the right Deen (religion) |
I just made arrangements to sell my SA 1911A1 today since it hasn't done anything but sit in the safe for the last 1.5 years. My FN-HP is next. I'm set with 2 G19's (one Gen 2 and one Gen 3), a G17 (Gen 2), a Ruger 22/45 for a plinker, and my 2 Bug's and Kahr PM9 and the S&W 342 my dad gave me. Also, I think it's funny that markm shoots a .40 S&W. ![]() ETA: Oh, I have Mepros on one, Trij on another, and XS big dots on my G17. The Mepros are much better than the Trijicons, I don't know about the XS big dot yet, I just recently instaled them. |
|
I have three Glocks and all wearHeinie Straight Eight Night Sights Some folks find them a bit too precise. I find it's quicker for me to stack two dots than to line them up horizontally. YMMV |
I like the looks of those and I might have to install a pair on my G17. |
One of these days I've got to try and take a good pic of these sights installed on my Glock. I haven't found a good pic of them on the 'net that does them justice. On my G19, I installed an "Operator" front sight with an Ameriglo "Combat" (no tritium or dots of any kind) rear right. The combat rear has an even wider rear notch but I can't say if I like it better or not? I do not shoot my 19 as well as I do my 17s but that was true even before replacing the sights so the jury is still out. |
| The G 17 is most likely the worlds best 9mm. I have one I bought used in 1991, it is still my do everything 9mm. I would like to get another 17 and even a 34, but I would still always use the old one. If I ever get another, it will be spare that I will give to my son 20 years from now. |
After shooting a few hundred rounds through mine I'm inclined to agree. Who'da thunk that plastic could feel so robust?? Certainly not me until I got ahold of my 17.
While there are lots of differences between the 1911 and Glock, there are enough similarities that make me think about only owning 1911's and Glocks. Low bore axis and consistant trigger pull come to mind. They are both easy for me to shoot. I had a much easier time shooting the Glock after primarily shooting a 1911 than when I tried to shoot a Sig after mostly 1911's. |
