IMI 9mm ammo manufactured for UZI prior to '95 wasn't ment for handguns, so it doesn't meet SAAMI standards. in other words: old UZI ammo (this box was made in 76) may be loaded well beyond +P+. The bullet can also be longer than the maximum standard, and the primers are dome shape and may not ignite upon strike. |
AH, that's interesting. Thanks for the info! |

Just for the record. American made 9mm +P+ is not SAAMI regulated either, which is why all the ammo companies that make 9mm +P+ restrict sales to LE only. I have fired several hundred rounds of Hirtenberger 9mm +P+ "submachine-gun" ammo through my Glocks with no ill effects. YMMV. |

I don't see why you should take any unnecessary risks with your handgun. I've also fired some Hirtenbirger-Patronen 124gr +P+, just to get used to the over-pressure feeling (I pack Winchester Ranger SXT 127gr +P+, which is damn expensive here, so I don't wanna waste them on practice) and I stick to IMI 115/124gr FMJ (standard pressure) for training. |
