Got a 32 today and a spare .40 bbl. After changingf barrels, I used the same mags and they only hold 9 instead of ten. I thought the .357 Sig was just a necked down .40 and the mags were interchangeable? I've got some hi-cap .40s coming but wanted to know if it's ok to shoot the .40s out of the .357 Sig mags.
The gun and mags are new. But I got lucky and got a like new drop free pre-ban mag for $40. So I'm going to put away the .357 mags and keep a lookout for a couple more good deals on hi-caps and I'll be set. From a quick search on glocktalk.com, it seems that Glock mags are not all created equal, but the hi-caps all seem to work ok.
Glock is the only company I know of that uses different mags for 357 and 40. Take apart a 357 mag and a 40 mag. If you look inside you will notice the 357 mag is narrower in the front (due to the metal lining). That is why you can't get ten rounds of 40 in a 357 mag.
