Anybody use the G30 for a carry piece? Opinions? TIA |
Another purist! Me too. I like the Meprolights over the Trijicons, but that's me. I have never used the extended slide release, 3.5 disconnect, etc. I think the Glock is GTG as is. |

Redbone, I hate to ask what will probably be a stupid question, but I will anyway. What is that you have mounted on the back of the grip? I've never seen that before. To respond to the original posters question, I too have the 30, and I carry it. It hides well enough, and isn't too uncomfortable. Oh yea, and it shoots great. Also, I've done the meps, and extended slide release, other than that, bone stocky. |
Well, there is definately some recoil, but it isnt as bad as you might think. I dont think you will have a problem. My grandmother shot mine at a family reunion last weekend with no trouble, arthritis and all. My .454 is a different story.....

| Been carrying one for about two years now. Best carry pistol I've had yet. Shoots great and conceals very well, yet packs a reassuring punch at the "bidness end". In fact, since I bought it, I haven't had any desire or reason to purchase another carry pistol. It's gonna take a really kick-ass pistol to make me give my 30 up! |
The 30 is an excellent carry gun, mine disappears in an IWB under a loose polo shirt. My wife shoots IDPA with me and shoots a Glock 26. She's shot my 30 quite a bit. She recommends a 26 for your wife, as she should beable to shoot it faster and more accurately. Hope this helps. |
Its an aftermarket thumb rest. It mounts using the rear pin that holds the trigger mechanism in place. The theory is that it giver you more control over the pistol and affords the opportunity for a more consistent grip. I've never tried one, but I've seen them on Ebay a lot. |
Yep, I bought mine from Brownells. Being a former 1911 carrier, the thumb rest feels at home. It's great for one-handed shooting and puts my grip higher on the weapon. My only complain is that it doesn't fit kydex holsters with a sweat shield. |
