| I just installed a wall safe in my master bathroom, mostly to keep my wife jewelry. I have a "extra" g21, gen 4 that I will keep in there for Home Defense. Because my wife will be messing around in the safe, I don't want to leave it loaded and cocked (she is terrified of guns). My thought is to leave a fully loaded magazine inserted and the slide locked back. In an emergency, all I would need to do is drop the slide. I am not sure that I have ever had anyone store a gun like this, does anybody see a problem with this? |

Yeah, long term storage of a spring in the compressed position is not the best choice for reliability in a defensive weapon.... tore it non empty chamber, trigger pulled then insert your full magazine.
Swap magazine every 3 months or so to ensure it doesn't take a set also.... |

I would look at Galco. They make a holster from horsehide. It's soft, does not take hardly anymore safe
space. That way, the gun can be handled loaded, in battery, safely without fear from your wife. Most of the gun will be covered this way as well. I use two of those Galco holsters; one for car console and the other positioned in the house. Need to find out if they make one for G21. I have the ones for 19 and 26. |

I would either keep it with an empty chamber, trigger pulled (hammer down), and loaded magazine Or Loaded and in a holster such as the Van Guard that covers the trigger. But that's just me. |

They all can kill or cause bodily harm. |
| I would store it somewhere else. With the extra moisture the bathroom with have, you could run into issues. I put my gun cabinet in my closet which is in my master bath. I had rust issues with some of the guns and ended up relocating the cabinet to another room. |

Definitely would not leave slide locked to the rear if it were me. Besides possibly damaging the spring over time, if a full mag was inserted it could be easy for your wife to knock it over and possibly send the slide into battery and bad things could happen.
If that is your plan, keep it well lubed and "cruiser ready." Slide forward, trigger dropped and a full mag in the gun. |
