OK I picked up a gen 3 GLock 19 cheap.. it only came with one mag, a few questions from a non-glock guy...
best place to buy mags inexpensively ? what brands to steer clear of? this gun is basically going to be a range toy and SHTF backpack gun... so reliablity in mags is what I seek.. thanks |
| Watch MidwayUSA and Brownells they throw them on sale all the time. I just snagged some a few weeks back from Midway for 16 and change. CDNN sells them pretty good price as well if you are not in Texas and have to pay the tax. Magpul and ETS mags are pretty good I would not say as good as OEM but good enough. |

If you keep an eye out OEM can be had under 18$/per.
Magpul about 12$ ETS cheapest I've paid was 9.95$ I use Magpul and ETS on the range, carry is OEM until I build more trust in either of the off brands. Haven't tried anyone else's Glock mags yet beyond the "asian military contract" and pro-mags back in the AWB days... those were useless/worthless and I'll never use either ever again. |

Brownells G19 mags
Brownells has them right now for $19.99. I also have both ETS and Magpul. I have had issues with being able to load the ETS to capacity. The replacement did the same with factory carry ammo. I have tossed them, but the Magpuls seem to be working good. |

I don't like the Magpul mags though. They just feel really cheap & too light. With factory Glock mags being really cheap these days I don't see why you wouldn't just buy them. |

^^^ This for me. As cheap as factory mags are, I can't see saving a couple dollars for just range mags. I only buy factory mags or produced for factory mags(Mec GAR,etc.) for whatever pistol I own as I trust them. Others might be great but saving a couple dollars and only using mags for recreation is a waste for me.
Like other people have said, Midway has awesome sales and I missed the last one. CDNN is great for a daily prices as they are only $20.00/mag. |

Buy G-17 mags. You only need one or two G-19 mags. It is the one that you carry in the gun. Use G-17 mags for your reload mags. If a ban were to pop up state or federal you will wish you had bought cheap and stacked deep, that is the arfcom motto for a reason. Learn from our pain. |

Midway USA Deal
That's a solid deal for Magpul mags. I have about a dozen of theirs, 17's and 19's, and they've all been flawless. Great range mags. And watch Midway for good sales on the factory mags too. You can get them for less than $20 pretty frequently. |

I know nothing about the seller but just saw this deal pop up on Now out of stock. |

So, in sticking with the theme, and from another Glock Noob, is it better just to get Glock magazines and forget about magpul? I know they are good for the AR. All have been flawless on the range to date, but i still carry OEM exclusively when I carry a Glock... Magpul and ETS haven't failed me yet... I may even carry one of em at some point, but it's a big mental hurdle to clear. I carry Mecgar in CZ and BHP without pause. I use aftermarket 1911 mags for carry... not sure why I'm hung up on the Glock mags. Magpul and ETS are 30-50% cheaper per mag (vs sale prices on OEM), but I buy my OEM mags on sale as 20$/per isn't a bad price for peace of mind. |
