I have a Glock 19 gen 4 and am trying to remove the pin for the trigger housing so I can install an extended slide release but that joker is really in there. I can't push it out and tried using a mallet with a punch but it won't budge. I did it on my 17 and it came right out with little effort by just pushing on it. Is there a trick or certain method people use? I tried manipulating it as I pushed on the pin but to no avail.

How are you supporting it?

This. The slide stop will ride in the grove in the trigger pin. Put some pressure on the pin (left side) with a punch or some such (I use the little Glock tool) and at the same time push the slide stop around. When it clears the grove in the pin, it will come out very easily. Do not use a hammer or other excessive force.

Wiggle and push.
Comes right out

Lift up and push it forward towards the muzzle end up of the frame while applying pressure to the pin with a punch.

I am using a large roll of tape to support it as I have seen others do. I have tried wiggling and pushing the slide release as much as I can and the pin won't budge. I did it with ease on my Gen 3 Glock 17. I tried tapping the punch with a mallet but it will not move. Do you need to remove the top pin and block in order to do it? I had a friend try and he is as confused as I am.

Wiggle and push. It will come out. Don't use a hammer. Trust me. Don't ask me how I know...

Where in FL are you?

Thanks for the help guys but I think I am going to take it to the dealer where I bought it as they are Glock armorers.

That's the best approach, if you feel uncomfortable doing it yourself; they probably won't charge you much, if anything.

I recently assembled 2 Glock 19 lowers from scratch, and followed the advice of the others here in this thread. The pin goes out left to right, and wiggle the slide-stop while applying pressure. The pin will move pretty easily when things are lined up just right. It goes back together right to left, with the same wiggling of the slide stop. You can then use your punch and mallet/hammer to get the pin equal on each side if necessary. However, if all you're doing is replacing the slide stop, you don't have to take the pin completely out. Just slide it to the right enough to change out the slide stop.

Good luck!

I apply pressure with a Glock tool on the left side of the pin and then move the slide stop lever forward and back. You might try removing the locking block pin.

Op look at how the gun goes back together when then gun shop takes it apart. The groove on the pin is your issue.

You'll want to know how to do this on your own for next time.
