I have a Gen two Glock 17 slide I was thinking about having night sights installed and refinished.

Question is will it hurt the value or is it really a non issue as Gen 2s are not that valuable anyway?

Its over 20 yrs old and all original, just didn't know if it mattered.

Thanks

A Gen2 17 is a long way away from having collector value. I just sent one in to Glock a couple of weeks ago to get new sights put on.

That's what I was thinking, I plan on stripping the slide so it comes back with new parts/finish and night sights.

That's what I did based on recommendation from other members. Incredible deal.

Is that one of the "AIM trade ins"?

Agreed with previous posters resale value on a Gen2 is not a concern as they are not collectable.  They are however sought by some who want a non-fingergrooved frame.

What color are you refinishing the slide?

Considering how cheap glocks does this for I would say go ahead. I have never been a fan of refinishing in general but it certainly won't hurt anything in this case. In most cases my philosophy is refinishing always hurts value of older collectibles and does not add value to modern guns, and working guns are just going to wear again anyway. Same reason I rarely wash and wax my high mileage beater jeep

Just don't have the frame upgraded. Gen 2 lovers like the frame, not the slide.

Beat me to it! Damn those folks want that proof marked 17 bad I guess. I'll be keeping my proof marked G19.

I disagree. I collect gen 2 9mm glocks, primarily the 19, and the market has been creeping up on them for years. Gen 2 G19s with austrian proofs and the matching box are going for $800+ on GB.
