Finally broke down and bought a Gen 3 G17.

One thing that bugs me is the mag release.  Not crazy about shifting my grip to drop the mag.  Are any of the extended releases worth a damn?

It's not the Dark Side.  The Force is strong with you now.

Nice pistol.

Several options for the extended magazine release. Glock OEM, Vickers, Zev, all personal preference. The Gen 4 pistols with the stock magazine release is my preference.

Edit: welcome to the addiction.

Now you need a SUB-2000.

The Vickers Tactical extended mag release works well.

I got the standard mag extension for both my Glocks and they work great and are simple to put in, much easier to mag drop than standard ones.

Nice. Try gen 4 for your next glock, the mag release is better.

I have the Vickers extended mag release on my Glocks and think it's probably the best, easiest improvement you can make to a stock pistol. I especially appreciate how they rounded off the corners on the Gen 1-3 release.

I joined the darkside from the M&P platform and although I've looked back and the M&P feels better in the hand, the timer tells no difference. On a gen4, the Vickers controls make it. I did have to move my trigger finger closer to the first knuckle to alleviate "low and to the left". No big deal. If S&W ever did a G19 I may go back, but until then,  I'm peachy.

Nice G17.3 OP. I really like the traction grip improvement. I have a Glock extended magazine release that works just fine.

It's an improvement over the factory grip and only half the price of Talon Grips.

Gen 4 are not available to us lowly peons in California.  The are LEO only.  I could find one on the secondary market and do a Person to Person transfer, but they command a premium price.

+2. Just the right length. The Glock factory extended releases are too long.

I like the Zev and have it on my 34. It might interfere with some holsters though.
