I need some input guys. I've got around 13,000 to 15,000 rounds through my G19 and it runs great. It's been back to Glock for an inspection and recoil spring passes all function checks along with all other parts. My question is this- About every 1 out of every 300-500 rounds I am getting a reoccurring malfunction that shuts the gun down and requires me to clear it. The pistol fires and does not eject. The extractor grabs the spent casing fine but the casing seems to ride up and over the ejector and stays attached with the extractor still holding the rim of the cartridge. The problem is you can't do the typical tap, rap, bang to clear it. You have to drop the mag and remove the spent case with your finger to get it out from the grasp of the extractor. If it happens to be the last round in the mag the pistol will lock open. If the mag still has ammo it won't be a double feed but the slide will be half open as it couldn't pick up another round with the spent casing still stuck on the extractor. Just for clarity this happens with steel case ammo. Has anyone else had this occur or any knowledge of this ?

Thanks for the help guys

It's the ammo, not the gun, I've had or happen as well I shoot lots of steel cased ammo, just the case over expanding ..nothing to worry about..

Cool and thanks for the quick reply my friend. I just wanted to be sure I wasn't the only one.

Carefully inspect your extractor ( compare to another one if you have a spare) I had a 19 with the tiniest chip in the lower edge of the extractor that did the same thing ( fwiw I use the cheap aluminum case ammunition for most practice and training stuff) and a replacement extractor solved it. I never had an issue with stout ammo like Winchester NATO ball or defensive rounds but with the light alloy case stuff about 1 every 200 rounds. Since the extractor replacement as not happened again in like 1000+ rounds

Take a dental pick and carefully clean the extractor, particularly under the claw.  Make sure it has the full range of motion and is not "sticking" due to carbon build-up.

If it still does it, chalk it up to shitty steel case ammo and accept it.

The chip on my extractor was very small just a fraction of what is pictured here, but was still enough to cause issues
