I believe I have an average size hand. I bought a G-34 to shoot local Steel Challenge matches. Since it was a "blue label" the pistol came with a 5.5 lbs. trigger and stock Glock sights. After a couple of hundred rounds I knew I had to do something with the trigger. I did the $.25 trigger job and ordered a Zev "starter spring kit". This brought the trigger pull too light for me so I replaced the connector that came with the kit and replaced it with a 4 lbs. connector and wound up with an very nice 4 1/2 lbs. trigger.
After 5000 rounds in a 4 week training session I went to the doctor with tendonitis in my right thumb area. I told the doctor what I thought caused this and she asked me to show her how I held the pistol. Because of my "average" size hand, to reach the center trigger safety I had to move my hand, placing the left corner of the frame on the joint of my thumb rather than lining up the center of the frame in the web of my hand. After taking Ibuprofen 800 mg. and physical therapy for two weeks I did a search for a shorter flat face trigger. Looking a all the different Glock sites I saw the prices varied from what I thought was reasonable to outrageous for just a trigger. I settled on the Kineti-Tech flat face trigger for $47.95. I got it in 4 days and installed the trigger in about 3-4 minutes. Wow, what a difference. No change in the trigger pull, the pistol can now be indexed in the web of my hand and no pain. 3000 more rounds down range and no pain. If you can't index the pistol in line with your forearm consider a flat face trigger, it really does reduce the distance from the trigger to the back strap on the pistol. |
