Is a gen 3 trigger bar GTG in a gen 4 Glock 19? I wanted a smooth face trigger for my G19 gen 4 but I accidentally ordered the gen 3 trigger instead of gen 4.

It seems to work ok but will it cause any issues? I'm also using the oem minus connector.

When the Gen4's were first released, I remember many people putting Gen3 trigger bars in Gen4 guns to lighten the trigger pull (no "bump" on the Gen3 bar).

I never tried it, and cant speak for if it actually made a difference or not, but it was common practice.  You should be fine.

On all of my Gen 4s the first thing I do is swap in a gen 3 smooth-faced trigger for the 17. Personally I feel a difference in the smoothness of the trigger pull. My favorite personal trigger setup is a factory Glock minus connector with a gen 3 smooth-faced trigger, a reduced power safety plunger spring and a 6 pound trigger spring and then I polish all of the metal surfaces. I know overtime it will do it itself but doing it from the get-go makes a huge difference to me. I do not change the striker spring. I have yet to pull the trigger ;-) on an aftermarket trigger but have been looking at the OverWatch Precision very closely or possibly an Agency Arms.

I actually put this to a test with a trigger gauge and what I found was their was no difference between a Gen3 and 4 bar.  I tried it with new, moderately used, and heavy used bars and what I found was not a difference between 3 vs 4 bars but a well used bar was smoother and lighter than a new one.  I had some cases where the Gen4 bar was lighter than a Gen3 and then some where a Gen3 was lighter than a Gen4 (new bars) and the ones that were lighter had noticeably less imperfections on the bar/connector & bar\striker block contact areas.

So anyone saying a Gen3 vs 4 bar is better because of the nub is full of it and what they are feeling is either in their head or the bar they got had less imperfections or has worn in.

OP a Gen3 bar will work just fine in a Gen4 carry on!

When the Gen4 came out I had several Gen3's, and when I finally shot the Gen4 I could not tell any difference in the trigger... But yet people were ready to burn the Glock factory to the ground for the sacrilegious changes to lord Gaston's design...

I believe many Glock owners suffer from a placebo effect as a default response to new products.  If a "Gen5" is release this year, you will have people talking about how good the Gen4 triggers "used to be".

I could tell a little difference between the 3 and 4 but it was due to the "." dot connector it took a very little bit of weight out of the trigger (not as much as the "-" connector) but that weight drop was not so much to make the trigger mushy like a "-" connector alone.

I figured this all out one day when I got bored and wanted to find a trigger combo that I liked.  So I sat down with a handful of connectors ("-", ".", +, LWD, Zev, and Ghost and several others), a multitude of spring combos (NY1 NY2, heavy reset, standard reset, striker block light and standard, different weight striker springs), handful of used trigger bars and new (gen3 and 4), and trigger gauge, Gen 2,3,4 Glocks sticky tack I put on the trigger shoe so the pull weight was measured at the exact point on each setup.  I then went to it swapping parts, dry firing, gauging, dry firing, and swapping parts again.  I learned a lot that day.

Some changes had drastic differences, some made little differences, some I could not tell by dry firing but would show on the gauge.  What I learned were the combos I hated the combos that were ok but had this or that I did not like, the combo I found to be best all around, and combos that for me may not be what I like but really intrigued me.

Also side note I learned sometimes what is advertised and what X maker says part Y will do was never consistent except with certain setups.

My first and only Glock is a 19 Gen 4.  I compared a Gen 3 and Gen 4 triggers side by side and the difference was extreme.  So before even taking delivery of the Gen 4, I ordered a Ghost trigger kit and the Evolution connector.

After testing the gun to make sure it went bang, I decomposed it fully and polished anything and everything that touched or rubbed.  Then I installed the trigger and connector.

WOW is the best description I can come up with.  The trigger is smooth, light and sweet.  It is nothing like the original factory set up.  The extra money spent for the Ghost installation was well worth it.

Thanks all.

I'll leave my gen 3 trigger bar in the G19 gen 4 with the minus connector. That setup feels good enough for me right now.

I also said WTH and tried the "dot" connector in my Gen 3 G26. Surprisingly it is slightly lighter than the G19, but now both triggers feel very similar to me.

If you want to improve the 19 adding a heavy trigger reset spring will make the trigger more crisp, about .25#-.5# lighter, increase the forward reset tension, and take the mushiness out.  I also run a lighter striker block spring as well combined it yields a 4# trigger.
