Does anyone have both? a 34 and a 17L? how do they compare? I saw that Glock has reintroduced the 17L again. I thought the 34 took it's place |
| Glock has never stopped making the 17L, although they may have stopped importation for a while. I have owned a 17L years back that I sold for more than I paid for it after winning several guns and some cash with, and wish I still had, and have shot the 34 / 35 series extensively. I personally prefer the 34 because it balances better for me, but both are good guns...you won't go wrong with either, but the 17L is more of a "specialty" gun, I think. |
Plus, if you're going to shoot IPSC production I don't believe the 17L would be legal since its barrel length is over 5" and it won't fit in the size test box like a 34 will. |

The 34 is definatly more of a general purpose gun and is accepted in almost any competition because it is roughly the same size as a 1911. The 34 has great balance and accuracy. I should never have sold it. I had a 24 (17L equivilent in .40) and fell in love with the way it handled. Unfortunatly it was very old and made from mis-matched parts, and was very inaccurate and unreliable. I put a 17L on order when they announced the latest run. it should be here this month (knock on wood). If you really want one, you need to find a good dealer who will really search for you, as most of them are pre-sold. |
