I got a G43 for a back up/off duty carry gun and the wife liked it so much, she took it as hers. So I went out and bought another one.
All I've done so far to both guns is get night sights and Pearce +1 magazine extensions. I've seen alot of ads for replacement triggers, are they worth the cost? If so, what replacement trigger do you guys suggest? I've seen the Overwatch Precision triggers, and the Glock store Pyramid triggers...are there others out there? I see the Glock store likes to sell replacement heavy guide rods and recoil spring sets....do these do anything other than make McGill money? What upgrades do you folks suggest for a basically stock G43? Thanks in advance. |

You are going to get a lot of answers running the gamut from "leave it the way it is" to "buy every ZEV part on the market."
Personally, I'd throw some night sights (or sights you like) on it, polish the trigger parts, put it back together, and shove it in a holster. Is there anything that you don't like about it that you want to change, or are you looking to change it even though you have no gripes? |

I think it's a huge improvement. Carry mag is a stock mag since I pocket carry. Spares all have +1s on them. |
| If it is a new G43 it should have the factory "-" connector and Galloway precision makes a spring kit for it (for carry I would skip changing the striker spring). As far as trigger it is a very highly subjective subject. It really depends on what you want and what you are really going for. |

Took mine out today. Shot low with the 6.1mm rear. So I made a 6.5mm normal Glock sight fit for the time being and have a gns01 front night sight on it now.
Mine has the "-" connector in it. Mags, 2x have the Pearce +1's and 2x have the tango down +2's. All function great. Carrying now with the TD mag and it's amazingly comfortable in a PJ iwb. |

My department issues Sig P229's and I'm a Sig Armorer, but I've never torn apart a Glock besides field stripping for cleaning....I'm guessing there are youtube videos on polishing glock triggers? Nothing per se that I'm looking to change that I havent already....but I've also never altered anything other than sights on any Glock I've ever owned, so I'm ignorant of anything that might be out there if that makes sense. I've noticed that the triggers between the two G43's are different....the older G43 has more rounds through and has a noticeably heavier trigger than the new one. That made me consider trigger improvements as a possible upgrade, especially for the wife who doesnt shoot very often. Anything that makes it easier for my wife to shoot better is something I'm willing to consider. |

Are these tough to install? |

Looks like I'll be ordering some Mag Guts conversion kits to make the slim mag a 7 rounder as well....Anyone tried the Mag Guts conversions with the Pearce Plus ones? Do they work together or fail miserably? |

You can do them w/ a good file and one of the Glock armorer's back plates if you read up on it and go slow. I don't think they're hard and I love the short reset w/ them. |

In my opinion, glocks are best left mostly alone. Sights of your preference, polish the internals (look for videos of this, they are easy to take apart), shoot them. They work best for duty/defense when they are relatively stock. Shoot it a bunch and get used to the trigger. They aren't ever going to be a glass-break single action style, but if you get used to them....I've found that I can shoot my Glocks faster and more accurately than I can my P229. But yeah, just get a new - connector and that should resolve the heavy trigger on your old G43 and make it like your new one. G43 "-" connector |

Here is my Glock 43. Installed Ameriglo I dot sights (night sights), Ghost Edge 3.5 trigger connector, Did a polish job on the trigger parts, Mag extenders on all three mags. and a CT laser which came with a holster for the gun. Did a refinish job on the slide. This is my every day carry gun why get my Dan Wesson ECO dirty :). http://i63.tinypic.com/35b8402.jpg That looks good! I'm considering the Streamlight TLR6 light for the wife's G43, but that CT laser might be something for mine. Our duty holster is a level 3 and that can be tough to draw from with the off hand, which is why I started carrying a back up. I remember reading about a California cop who had the same holster and got his dominant hand destroyed when a suspect shot him with a 38 revolver...he wasnt able to draw his Beretta 96 from his holster with his off hand and was lucky enough to have a ridealong with him who was able to draw his gun and hand it to him so he could shoot and kill the suspect who was trying to get his AR out of his patrol car. I've never used a laser on a handgun before, always thought they were kind of gimmicky until I read that story. http://discoverpolicing.org/people/index.cfm?fa=detail&id=140. After reading that, it occurred to me that it might be a good idea to have a spare gun I could reach with my off hand, and having a laser or light on the gun, might be beneficial if I was wounded and forced to shoot with my support hand at an odd angle or position. |

G43 "-" connector That connector shows that it does not fit the G43...is this what you were talking about: http://glockparts.com/Detail.aspx?PROD=1218007&CAT=705? I prefer my Sigs because they fit my hands better, but to be honest if I knew the end of the world was coming, and I could only have one pistol, I'd grab a G19. In my opinion, one of the great things about Glocks is that they are affordable, reliable, and accurate enough for a self defense pistol. I can appreciate well made/custom guns, but I have no desire to take a $450-$700 Glock and turn it into a $2k Glock. I'm not knocking those folks who have chosen to do so...that's their choice. But it's not something I'm interested in doing. |

Nice job with the stippling! Is that a TD +2 mag extension? |

| I have put the Tango Down slide stop and mag release on my G43 and I just put some of their +2 extensions on my backup mags with a TLR-6 and a G-Code Incog to carry it all. I am going to be getting some Trujicon HD night sights for its as well and maybe get a Overwatch Precision TAC to match my other Glocks. |

Proof of concept here. Going to get another 6.5mm steel rear and spend time filing down the edges once I can confirm it will bring up my POI to where I want it.
This was a quick job to test height and get an idea. For $10 why not. Attached File |

How does this laser attach to the 43? Thanks! John Typically they grip the trigger guard of the 43. But IIRC, Lasermax makes a replacement recoil guide rod with a laser inside it, so you just replace the guide rod and the exterior of the gun doesnt change at all. No idea how often they have to be replaced though. |

I'm picking up another G43 next week. How can I tell if it has the "-" connector? Can you see it with the slide off? Yes If you look at the top of the connector you will see the "-". Attached File |
