If the Gen 4 recoil springs are chrome silicon why does Glock recommend replacing them at 5k intervals? CS springs should have a much longer life than that right? I have CS springs in my ARs and didn't plan on ever changing them again but do have extras in case they are needed.

....the short answer is because they have a legal department, I've got 40K+ thru two of my gen4's, both with the original GSA (actually the G17 was replaced after 2K because of the initial recall), but still in excess of 40K).

What does the barrel ghosting wear and hood look like after that mileage?  Do you have pics?

They're cheap so I replace them about every 7k rounds .

5K just seems a good round number. I'm sure has zero actual usefulness other then protecting the Glock reliability perception.
It's been proven you can beat a Glock to heck & back on stock parts for WAY longer
