| People love to get on the "DON'T change anything or you will get cancer!" band wagon but what problems have people had with stainless steal guide rods? I have shoot thousands of rounds with no issue but I want a true survey of what problems people have had. I like the idea of my SHTF gun having a guide rod that will not chip. Does it happen a lot? No but it has. Double feeds dont happen alot but I still work malfunction drills, just in case. |

I bought steel guide rods and frame plugs when I was new to all this, but stopped when I realized that there are literally millions of Glocks in service worldwide and plastic rods have never been an issue. I have 3 or 4 steel rods in my parts box and I have no idea what they go to. To answer your question, a Glock engineer would be the best source of information as I'm sure Glock looked into steel rods at some point. |

Glocks do flex so if I had to make an educated guess as to why Glock doesn't use steel guide rods, that could be it.
That said, I've used stainless guide rods with no issues and I have stock guide rods with no issues. For me, the steel guide rods just made the slide function feel smoother. Dave N |

this is what I thought. No real issues against it. People are not seeing frame cracks, etc due to is after 20K rounds. Thanks guys Frame cracks why? The guide rod does not do a whole lot other than make field stripping easier and installing a recoil spring easier. |
