I was gifted a gen 2 G22. Absolutely love the gen 2 frame and it shoots great. Not sure of the round count through it, but the slide, barrel and frame all appear to be good shape.

What parts would you recommend to be replaced to make this gun suitable for home defense and occasional carry? I'm talking just OEM replacements for parts that would typically be worn that may affect reliability.

Thanks in advance!

If it works why replace anything?

Recoil spring since it's an unknown.

Leave everything else unless it's actually broken.

Trigger spring and slide lock spring are cheap insurance.

Replace all the springs with new ones would be my suggestions.  Very least replace the RSA.

For cheap insurance, I would replace all of the springs. Also:

Slide lock spring (updated part - recommended upgrade)
Trigger w/ trigger bar (updated part - improved spring mounting points)
Trigger Mechanism Housing/ejector (updated part - improved spring mounting points)

Best sights on the market and reflex sight.

Have slide replaced with a custom or have yours milled.

Aftermarket barrel is a must have, ported is even better.

All internals gotta be Zev.

Grip reduction and have finger grooves added, with a custom molded beavertail.

Send it off for the best stipple job you can afford, have em add a big pimp ass magwell.

The above is one big ass joke, do not be offended people.

Congrats on the gen 2 !!

Yeah, probably just replace the springs since you don't know the history of the firearm and it's likely getting close to 20 years old. Other than that, leave everything alone and evaluate based on performance.

Alright seems like I'll be picking up some springs and then shoot it until it fails.

Thanks for the input all!

Ha, I'm not a fan of anything non OEM on my pistols other than sights, no worries haha. Besides I can't afford such extravagance

Replace the recoil spring and sights, that's all I would do.
