| Outside of the ACP vs GAP debate (ammo price & availability not a concern), any recommendations between the two of them? Intent is a CCW "beater"... Probably my biggest concern is the G36 (excessively) short handle; especially given the dreaded reload "pinch". |

with the pierce extension you still get the reload pinch. A way to avoid the reload pinch is to carry fullsize magazines as spares, something i do with my 26 that can't be done with the 36 however. The 38 is G19 sized but only carries 8 rounds. I'd rather have 15 rounds of 9mm personally, but this isn't meant to be a debate. The g36 isn't appreciably thinner than the 38, only 0.05" |
Well, I just had an expensive trip to the range... I was practicing with my 9mm and wanted to see if the range had something interesting to shoot, as a change of pace. Turns out they just happened to have a G38; so much for saving up for next year...  The G38 really is for all practical purposes, the same size as a G19. Its seems like it will be a good CCW "tool". The one gotcha is that the slide is just wide enough, it doesn't like the G19/23 holster. BTW, the owner of Manchester Firing Line (in NH) really hooked me up when I test fired & purchased this. Can't say enough good things about the customer service - Highly recommended! |
