Does this look like normal chamber wear to you?
Barrel is out of a Glock 23.

I was recently shooting some .40 Federal aluminum case and noticed I was getting split cases.  Not all cases were split, but I wasn't able to recover all of the cases to check.  I don't remember seeing the wear in the chamber last time it was cleaned.  I'm wondering if the leaky cases may have caused the wear.

That is called "flame cutting". The case ruptured and the chamber contained the pressure of the burning propellant. There is no way to fix that. Once the metal is flame cut, its gone. Contact Glock, tell them what happened, show them your pics and send them your barrel. They will cut you a good deal on a new one.

I have that in one of my guns as a direct result of using reloaded aluminum cases.  They say not to do that for a reason.

I kept using it and it hasn't gotten worse, FWIW.   I don't use anything but brass anymore.

Thanks for the input.  It still seems to shoot the brass cased ammo ok, but I'll probably look into a new barrel.  It does look like more than just the finish is gone in the chamber.

I believe that.  This was factory ammo that split.  I don't even reload 40sw.
