I was shooting with my friend the other day and he was having some failure to feed issues. Any idea what causes this type of malfunction?

Almost looks like aluminum cased ammo but weak ammo could cause this failure to feed. Weak grip can contribute to to this FTF because the pistol does not have enough resistance for the slide to travel fully to rear. A weak magazine spring can contribute to failing to feed because the round doesn't rise quick enough to get a good push into the chamber.
My only problems with my Glock 27 was weak magazine spring. Loading the chamber and topping off the mags reduced the life of my Glock 27 magazine springs. I've had the best luck with factory Glock magazine springs. My Glock 27 would start failing to lock the slide back on the last round, new mag springs and the slide locked back on an empty mag every time. |

My G27 started doing that quite often about ten years ago.
It turned out to be weak/worn out/abused magazine springs. They had been kept loaded for the previous six years with a Pearce +1 extension on them. I suspect that those cause the spring to compress in excess of design limits. Haven't had any issues since ditching those crappy things, and replacing the springs with new OEM. |
