| Took my wife out to shoot her new glock 42. I decided to give up after the 100 round mark and contact glock after constant fail to feed and fail to eject. This is pretty annoying considering I have had never had this many issues with any other glocks I have shot or owned and came to trust the glock name. Ammo we tried was hornady ftx, speer lawman fmj, geco fmj, and underwood extreme penetrator +p. |

Disappointing to see this. I had feeding proble,s with certain ammunition, but I found out that the latest magazine solved it.. Something to look at for you, but it won't solve the failure to eject issues you have. For the record the latest version of the magazine is 33249-03. Glock replaced all 3 of my early versions and now my 42 runs great.
Keep us informed, it'll be interesting to see what they say. If it's any consolation, their customer service is great.... |

A friend just bought a new Glock 42 and he brought it into a LGS when I happened to be there. He said the pistol constantly jammed with a box of 90 grain FMJ PMC. I looked at the pistol and it was bone dry. I lubed the pistol with a few drops of Slip 2000 EWL that was on the bench. We stepped outside and I fired off 5 rounds and 4 landed in a one inch red circle on the target, the 5 th round I flinched a little and went a little low left. My Friend went to shoot the pistol and I showed him how to choke up higher on the grip. He fired 5 rounds with no malfunction and had good hits.
My Friend said he thought the pistol should run out of the box. I said on a new tight pistol I'd recommend a little lube. My Friend is a farmer and I asked him if he'd run his new tractor with out any oil or lube and of course he said no. I said my tools from being a LEO were guns and I didn't run my pistols without a little lube. I then proceeded to show him how to clean and lube his pistol. He thanked me for taking the time to show him how to clean and lube his pistol. My Friend said he never really bothered to lube his other guns but thought now it wouldn't be a bad idea. A new gun with no lube and a weak grip is a common contrubutor to malfunctions with semi autos. |

I see this all the time also on all brands of handguns, bought new and shot right out of the box with no lube and have malfunctions, and a few drops of oil cure it. Lube Is Important, So Do It Often and Do It Right! The truth is that most guns will run great clean and lubed. They also will run fine dirty and lubed. But almost no gun will run dry — for any appreciable amount of time — no matter if it’s clean or dirty. Lube is super important so do it right and do it often. How to lubricate a Handgun |

How to lubricate a Handgun If I recall correctly the manual that came with my 42 states that you need to lubricate it before you first shoot it. It also shows you how and where to do it. |

Here is a resource I have used when looking at the 42s. Glock 42 changes
I just bought a "used" one from GT today for my wife. It has a test fire date of Jan. 2015 so I expect it to run well. I'll clean it and lube it before we head out to the range. There are also a number of youtube videos detailing what features should be present in the current gen. |
