357Sig is not very popular among folks that have to purchase their own ammo, it's not terribly popular with people the taxpayers fund either. Factory ammo is expensive in the order of 2-3X 9mm with few options for "bulk/economy" loads, reloading takes a bit more effort and attention. Gains over 9mm +P+ are not huge. Some depts have allegedly tested it and found it better when encountering barriers such as glass and sheetmetal. Most people it seems just find it expensive, and loud with objectionable recoil, I find the latter two claims are dramatically overhyped. |

I can find Sig Elite ammo for it for $25 per 50 at gander mountain, so about 50% more than 40 S&W, and 2.5x the price of 9mm. That's why I chose the G23. I already have a 9mm conversion barrel for it and am wanting the 357 Sig to round out my kit. Though I probably wont shoot the 357 Sig much I still want the choice. |
