A good friend told me yesterday he has a Gen 1 19 that came with a "-" connector out of the box, he purchased it at a Walmart, does this sound right?

Thanks,

Don't know about his connector, but WalMart used to sell pistols, so indeed he might have bought a Gen 1 19 @ WalMart.  Not many Gen 1 19s produced, if I understand correctly.

If it's a gen 1 it predates the minus connector and is worth a lot of money.

There are only a couple dozen true Gen1 G19s known to exist. There was never a true Gen1 G19 frame. When they developed the shorter slide of (what would become the Gen2) G19, they cut G17 frames down at the dust cover and the grip to make the G19 sized frame. Yes, true Gen1 G19s have "factory" cut G17 frames.

Here is a pic borrowed from another forum of what a true Gen1 G19 looks like.

You see at the bottom of the magwell, it's obviously a Gen1 G17 that's been cut shorter for G19 mags. This was done by Glock at the factory before the Gen2 G19 frame was finalized.

I agree. There are only 16 gen 1 G19's out there as far as I know, and they were for the Kansas LE; they bring $5K ++ when one pops up for sale.

BTW: Glock also made (12) show and tell G19's, which sit in some office in Glock, Austria
