I MIGHT make an open gun for the fun of it. I shoot 3 gun, good ole boy USPSA, and might go to a glock match or sanctioned USPSA match one day. I wont be taking any trophies home.
I know I want an optic and a compensator. Barrel would be Lone Wolf threaded with their comp. I would most likely be after plain 9mm unless advised otherwise to get 40. Should I get 19 or 17 MOS? I love my gen2 34, but with optics I know sight radius does not matter. I would guess with the 19 there is more gas to run the comp and it could double as a CCW. Should this debate instead be 23 or 22? What optic goes good on the MOS glocks? Are any of the optics easy to activate or motion activated for use as a CCW/car gun? does the smaller 19/23 with comp fit into any box sizes for any particular discipline that a 17/22 with comp would not? |

How about G22 (or 35 if no optics), you can always get a 9mm barrel for it. I find a bunny fart .40 to be softer than 9mm and does better at knocking over steel. I had a friend recently look into an optic ready Glock. We found that having the slide milled is about the same as the extra cost for the MOS, but you don't get as tight a fit for your optics base. So if you know what optic you want to use, just get a regular slide milled for that exact dimension. |

I would say a Glock 22 for a comped Open gun, 35 if not using a comp. You can shoot bunny fart, barely major loads (might have to run hotter loads to drive a comp, though). I wouldn't do a slide mounted dot for a real open gun. A 6-second mount would be better for that setup. |
