| I have a G19, G19C, G20SF, G21SF, and G43 right now. Been wanting a G17 for a while and I'm seriously considering it. The other options are a G34 or a G41MOS. If I get the 17 I'm torn between a Gen3 or Gen4. All of my Glocks minus the 43 are Gen3's and I love them. I still don't trust the new recoil system on the Gen4's and I'm not a huge fan of the huge mag release. Regardless, I can get a blue label Gen4 with night sights for $479+ tax, which comes with 3 mags. Or I can get a G17 Gen3 with plastic sights and only two mags out the door for $510. Is it worth a few extra bucks for the Gen4, extra mag, and night sights? |

And I believe the price with night sights is around the $470 range, blue label? Between the 2 generations, I really like the 4th. I have several of both, like the bigger mag release and rougher texture. |

I'm a big fan of the 17 but based on what you have and that it seems that this is just something different to add to your collection, I'd probably recommend the 34. I've had both and personally don't find that much difference between them (performance, accuracy, etc.) but the 34 is cooler and does have a slight velocity and sight radius advantage.
ETA - as for Gen3 vs Gen 4. My personal favorite are the pre-MIM Gen3's with the Teflon like finish but if I was picking between current model Gen3s or Gen4's, I think I'd probably go Gen4 because of the better mag release and texturing. |

Gen 4 is preferable for me for several reasons. I like the medium beavertail, I like the grip texture, I like the mag release and I prefer the RSA.
For me personally, if I were going to go with a long slide it'd be the G41. If I were going to get a 9MM, it's the G17 Gen 4 FTW. The G41 is a hoot and damn-near makes the .45 ACP as much fun to shoot as a .22lr! The G17 is, with apologies to the G19, the quintessential Glock. No collection is complete without one. What would I do first? Well, since you already have compact, full-size and single-stack Glocks, of your choices I'd go for a long slide next. You have three 9MMs and only one .45, so the G41 Gen 4 would be my purchase. I'd work on a G17 and G26 next. As always, buying all of them is the best answer. |
| I have the 17,19,26, and 34. All gen 4. I ccw the 19w/xc1 in a T-Rex sidecar... But the 34 is my favorite. I had the 19 and 26 for years and once I finally decided Glock works the best for me all around... I ended up buying the 17 and 34 the same week. Out of your options I'd get the Gen 4... But that's just me... I haven't had any issues with any of my Gen 4's. |
