Does the Gen 3 and 4 take the same parts?

They can take the same connector but they come from the factory with different connectors. The standard Gen 4 connector is marked with a dot. Gen 3 connectors have no mark, a + or a -. As far as I know the trigger spring is the same.

Yes, but GLOCK won't sell it to the general public.

3.5 Connector is technically a "-" connector but should be called the 4.5 connector as it lowers the trigger pull somewhere between 4.5-5#.

If you plan to change the connector be sure to change the reset spring otherwise you will end up with a mushy trigger that most people tend not to like.
