I have an early 23 sn in the 800's. which I got in 1990. The gun was carried on duty for many years and I did have an extractor break due to some overloaded ammo that Federal had sold to the government. I let the agency fix it which was in 2002 and they put in ?? and installed the newer captive recoil spring. The gun worked fine after as before. I haven't fired it in a while and when I did it had a FTE after shooting 20 or so rounds. When I checked it I found the extractor had departed to points unknown. Well I am not digging around in the pasture for that puppy it's gone.
I see Lone Wolf sells Glock extractors and people seem happy enough with them. The question, Is there anything else I am likely to need.? The plunger is in the gun and I do feel the downward spring action pressing on it. Any ideas or opinions on replacement extractors most welcome , thanks |
| The very early guns may have had a different extractor design than more current versions. You may want to call the after market supplier to see if they can confirm fit, or just send the slide back to glock or call glock. If it were me ( and I am not one of those OCD round count spring change guys) as you have the slide apart go ahead and replace the other guts related to the extractor |

I'd call Glock, you can send a stripped slide and have factory night sights installed for $57.00. I sent my friend's Glock 42 in just before Christmas for night sights. He got his back on December 23 rd. Glock replaced all the internal slide parts for free and installed the night sights, total cost including USPS shipping and insurance $66.00.
I've read where customers have sent their complete pistols and magazines to Glock for updating. Glock even replaced their magazines for free, all this for the price of the shipping. You can have an FFL ship your pistol to Glock in a priority mail box for $20 or less. If you ship your pistol through UPS or FedEx it has to be next day or two day shipping IIRC. |
I probably should have sent it in but didn't see the idea until I had punched in the amazon order,. 17 bucks ahh well. I'll toss it together and see how it goes. As long as it goes bang reliably I'll be content. I want to have it ready before I head to Florida to hide out from the weather and this way I can still have my crack at it and then still have time to send it in and get it back in time. No way I'm going traveling with my Model 28 Smith. Hauling that hog around is like dragging an anchor. .

Got my extractor today and went to put it in. That's when I discovered that that tiny spring had gone with it. What was I thinking? Homer Simpson would be proud, Looking at buying the spring , plunger and bearing whether or not it will fit with the old style and the wolf extractor. ..................that reloaded slide sounds like a deal and those $57 night sights are starting to sound very |
