Plenty of other weapons . . Looking at the G19 over a SIG 1911 Commander size for carry. I like the reliability and magazine capacity of the G19. The sub compact Glocks are too small for my hand. I plan on Hornaday critical duty ammo.
This would be my first Glock (Glock virgin?). Also outside holster, and shoulder holster recommendations. I have a Galco Miami rig now. Please coach me as to what you might do differently. |

The G19 is the best general purpose 9mm out there IMHO. Perfect balance of size, weight, caliber and capacity. Nearly unlimited holster options and tons of aftermarket support. I fully support your decision and would do nothing different other than the shoulder holster, those are quickly becoming a thing of the past but no biggy. Seriously though the 19 is an awesome choice! I have competed with HK, Sig, Beretta, S&W, and Springfield and Glock is what worked best out of all them. Be careful though the 19 is a gateway gun, it will lead to other Glocks before you know it. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

I am seeing the G19 for $561 at Rainier. |

Look up the Milt Sparks line of holsters. |

I also carry a Glock 19 daily. I'm pretty quick to tell people we have tons of quality handguns on the market now. Though, most of them are a little smaller or a little bigger than the 19. For me, it's 97% as shootable as a full size, while being 30% easier to conceal. Just right, Goldilocks pistol, if you will.
I find an inside waist band leather/kydex hybrid easier to conceal than an outside waistband. I use a Comptac Minotaur. With the "C" belt clips, I can even conceal it with a tucked in shirt, if the shirt is cut correctly. The problem with holster recommendations is they are alot like shoe recommendations. The most comfortable to me, may just not fit you well. That said, IWB does give you more clothing/concealment options than OWB or shoulder, especially in the summer. |
| If you are a Glock virgin I would first recommend you shoot one. Not to knock Glock in any way but some people love or hate the grip. If at all possible I would recommend shoot other pistols in that class with the Glock. Also on a side note if you do hate the grip the nice thing about plastic is it can be modified. I would suggest if you are looking at the Glock try and get your hands on a Gen 2 3 & 4. I have a Gen4 I replaced a Gen3 because I like the Gen4 texture. |

All 3 of those are very good rounds that can be bought in 50rd packs. My preferred holster is the HSP incog, carrying appendix...followed by the comptac mtac (insert any of the leather/kydex hybrids here). Good choice on the G19. It's an excellent carry gun. Replace the factory sights with a set of Heines. Also, drop a zev v4 connector in there for a cheap and easy trigger upgrade. |

The "why" you pick a 19 for your first Glock. You may not need the others:
Sights as you desire. Do not screw with the rest of the gun. Shoot it and in 200 rounds the trigger system is smooth and at spec weight. Replacing parts leads to the endless, "I changed_______, and now my new Glock won't work" threads in that forum. Some even discuss how unsafe is still OK. See for a good comparision of Glocks: http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_5_4/163374_Glock_Sizes__Shooting_the_34__19__26_with_XGrip__and_26_Flat_Base___10_20_30_40_Yard_Comparisons.html |

Well, I am a thing of the past! Old SOB. ^maybe the case, but this is still a poor option. As far a the G19 goes, I'd second most of what has already been said... and add that if I could only own on Glock, it would surely be a G19gen4 (and don't forget the quality holster/belt, notice I did not say shoulder rig). My preference for OWB is a Raven Concealment Phantom, and for IWB Comp-Tac MTAC. I'd also strongly consider adding sights, I prefer yellow Trijicon HD's but YMMV. Good luck in your decision! ~g |

Practice not using the slide stop to release the slide, the last thing I'd want on a carry gun is an extended release. The 19 is one of my carry guns, OWB - I'd recommend a Raven Phantom with pancake wings, IWB - I'd recommend a Stealth Gear Onyx. I've been through a ton of holsters for that gun and those are the only two that I've kept. I don't own a shoulder holster but I think the consensus is always a Miami Classic. I'd change the factory sights, I'm running these, Trijicon HD: http://media.midwayusa.com/productimages/880x660/Primary/591/591754.jpg These days I find myself carrying a Glock 42 for convince, The 19 isn't hard to conceal but there are days where it's a pain in the ass. Literally what I have on me right now. Easily my favorite holster. |

I have tried and tried to find something better than the G19 and no matter what I buy or how much I spend I keep coming back to the G19.
Ammo-Speer Gold Dots 124grn +P Sights-Trijicon HDs, Yellow Front I have the new Surefire XC1 and a Crimson Trace (Gen 4) on my pistol. I like the Gen 4 G19, fits my hand better but I do have a Gen 3 as well. I did Stipple and remove the finger grooves on my Gen 4, feels great in the hand. JM Kydex made an IWB holster for the above, perfect is the best way I can describe it. Like I have said, I have tried just about every brand and have three drawers of holsters, but the G19 still always wins. |

I too have been a Glock 19 owner and CCWer for about a week now. I had my gen3 stippled, ghost ranger put in, extended slide stop. I installed Trijicon HD sights as posted above. I have a Haley skimmer trigger on the way. I carry at 3 in an Incog holster. Really liking the whole package so far! |

I have a 19 and a 26. I usually ccw' my 26 in warm weather... But then I added a +2 to the mag... It made it just about the same size as the 19... So I just started carrying the 19 AIWB and have been very happy.
I bought a Sig P320c a while back and it took the place of my 19 for a while. It's probably the closest gun I have found that comes close to the size/weight/capacity as the 19. Even though the 320 is a GREAT gun with a GREAT trigger... I've gone back to my 19... Due to the size/weight/capacity. |
