Zev Tech recently released their long awaited Pro Magwell. This magwell is unlike their others that they have made before. This one is geared more towards concealed carry/duty use, to aid in rapid magazine transitions but not be too huge and bulky to print or get in the way. I ordered one for standard size frames (17/22/31/34/35) and one for compact frames (19/23/32). The beauty of this magwell versus the competition is that it does not matter if your pistol is Gen 3 or 4. How it accomplishes this is when you install the magwell, the front lip of the pistol grip 'holds' onto the inside edge of the magwell and then you rock the insert that goes into the empty frame gap at the rear of the pistol grip and it is then held into place by a button head allen screw. As long as you haven't modified the rear of the pistol grip or reduced the rear hump too much, this should fit just fine. I have found that both my 34.4 and 19.4 have extremely tight lock up and have no doubt it wont budge. As you can see from the photos below, I tried different base pads to see how easy it would be to pull out a stuck magazine. By far the easiest to pull out would be the 10-8 Performance base pads because of the scalloped cuts on the base pad. Both the stock Glock base pad and the Magpul PMag GL9 magazine would be hard to extract with fingers alone, there is plenty of room at the front of the magwell to insert a small tool to help pry out the magazine if need be. Unfortunately I do not have any Tango Down/Vickers Tactical base pads to compare them with the rest.
This magwell is minimal in both width and overall footprint making it an excellent choice for EDC use. I daily carry my 19.4 with SureFire XC1 with Trijicon RMR with this magwell and I am loving the setup. It also doubles as my competition gun and I can see the magwell coming in very handy for that. I have never cared for the big and bulky magwells and special base pads you have to use with them. Price is right inline with the other manufacturer's low profile magwells, but these to me look better and have better performance characteristics. Zev Pro Magwell by Two Sierra, on Flickr

| This magwell was kind of disappointing to me. I love everything on the front end, it looks awesome, great design, etc. But everything on the back is ugly and out of place(no doubt due to the compatibility reasons). The button head screw is a complete eyesore, and the back end of the magwell has an odd gap that just seems out of place. This has been noted by a handful of customers who have bought them this week. |

Can you use the gen. 4 backstraps with this magwell? This. If that magwell is compatible with the large backstrap on a Gen 4 G34 I don't know if I can resist buying one. Hell, I might have to buy one for a Gen 4 G19 as well if the large backstraps aren't an issue. |

Where are these reviews? I wonder if this is because it is compatible across both gen 3 and 4. |

Ordered one today for my 34. Hoping that screw doesn't feel noticeable. May have to hunt down a screw with a more low profile head. As machine screws go a button head is about as low profile as they come. There are some counter sunk for sheet metal that don't have the long cone shape lead in to the threads, but work best on flat surfaces. |
| Got mine today. The screw head doesnt bother me. Its not noticeable. One thing i noticed when installing on my gen 3 22 is that the pro magwell puts a lot of force on the front side of the grip and distorts the magwell (of gun) slightly. This causes my mags to bind up and not drop free. Once my arms out of the sling I have to do a little fitting. Overall I like the feel and looks. Just gotta work it a bit. |

As you can see, the magwell is interfering with inserting the backstrap at the bottom. Also the screw in the back is too short, if you were able to insert backstrap in the bottom, tou could get a ponger screw and it would work i assume. But from what it looks like, you cant use any backstraps. Thanks for the pictures. I wouldn't have thought the backstraps would have been interchangeable while the magwell is installed due to the attachment method so that's not really a surprise to me. Aside from needing a longer screw, do you think it would fit if you installed the magwell with the backstrap already in place? That "gap" at the back of the magwell on your Gen 4 seems to follow the angle of a medium backstrap. If you look at the pictures in the above post, the Gen 3's don't have the same gap. Seems like it would fit a medium backstrap at least since that is equal to a Gen 3 grip. Maybe that's just wishful thinking |

No i dont think so, the magwell is not long enough from front to back to fit with a backstrap. Like it has been said though, Agency Arms has one that will fit. When i looked the magwell up over at Rainier Arms it has a drop down menu to choose which backstrap you have. So i will definately be getting one of those for my new G17 i got last week. |

Quoted: I discovered a new issue with mine. Or at least it sure seems like an issue. If I pull down on the front of the magwell, I can dislodge it and it dangles. And it isn't terribly difficult. I could see doing it when trying to strip a mag under stress. I can see that being an issue. I will have to test this out on my Agency Arms magwell. Question, which mags are you using? When i had the Zev pro magwell i couldnt "pinch" the mags to pull them out, the magwell covered them well. I guess thats why its called "mag well" |
