I decided to upgrade my stock trigger with a double diamond 3.5 connector and 6lb competition spring. Has anyone used both of these and have an issue? A local Gunsmith installed the parts for me.

I'm not good with the technical terms so I'll explain it in my terms and hopefully you can understand.
-basically the first part of the trigger pull before it gets close to firing(pretravel maybe?) with both installed if I pull to that point and let go the trigger wouldn't return to starting position, I had to physically push trigger back forward.

I took the competition spring out and replaced it with the factory trigger with the help of a friend and it's back to the way it should be.

Did I buy the wrong spring?

I have videos of this if I haven't explained it well enough

Thanks for your help/information

**another question- do a lot of you switch out gen 4 trigger bar for gen3 G17 trigger bar?

Make sure the spring was installed by the gunsmith correctly, not backwards or binding? Have you tried re-installing the spring yourself after you put back the factory spring and it was working normal?

I know exactly the issue you are talking about. I have 5 gen 4 Glocks. Four of them work just fine with aftermarket springs. One of them just refuses to work (does exactly what you're experiencing) with anything other than the factory spring. I've tried trigger springs from three different companies and none of them work in that gun. I've changed everything short of the actual trigger housing with no luck.

It's not a big deal. Just roll with the factory spring.

I had this issue and it was the spring not being centered in the trigger bar hole. This caused it to drag along the housing. Just make sure the spring is centered.

I haven't tried to reinstall the other spring myself yet, it was my first time breaking the gun down that much and at the time I was just happy to get it back to working order.

Also is it common to switch Gen4 trigger bar for Gen3 G17 trigger bar?

There can be problems of not having enough engagement between the striker and the cruciform using a Gen 3 bar in a Gen 4 gun. An orange half backing plate is nice to check the engagement.

That said, I have a Gen 3 smooth bar in my Gen 4 19 ... YMMV

UPDATE with one more question.

I ordered OEM gen 3 G17 smooth trigger, when I install it should the comp trigger spring work then? So far I gather that the springs are sometimes an issue in Gen 4s?

Gen3 or 4 trigger bar?
I run a G17.4 trigger bar in my 19.  Both my 23.4 and 19.4 never had reset trigger spring issues.

Why are monkeying with something that was Perfect to begin with?  Of course you're gonna' have issues with aftermarket CRAP in your gun!

I have run the 19.4 and 17.4 bars, a 17.3 bar, Glock Kraft trigger, Apex trigger and the DEM trigger (all gen 3 bars). I've tried OEM "-" connectors, Ghost connectors and Suarez connectors. I've tried Ghost, Zev and Suarez spring. None of them worked in that gun.

The factory spring worked no matter which trigger and connector I used.

i have the 3.5 Ultimate Ghost connector in mine. I also had the Wolff 6lb striker spring and trigger return spring in for few months and could not come to like the springs, so I took them out. Anyways, when the trigger return spring was initially installed, it was not properly seated; therefore, the trigger would not reset automatically. All that was needed was to make sure the spring was in properly and seated. I now just run the 3.5 connector.

Had same issue on my G4 19. Zev 3.5 and Zev springs. ended up taking it to glock { I live near it} had it reset to stock.  Mine wouldn't reset to full safe {safety plunger wouldn't engage unless I moved it forward physically}

I changed back to just the connector with stock springs and no issues at all

And there it is! I'm surprised it took that long.

I use after market springs, connectors, guide rods, triggers, strikers, slide stops, mag releases, barrels, and anything else I choose to change.
If it's a quality part from a quality manufacturer, there's no reason it shouldn't work when installed properly.

I love my Glocks and have several. They are not and never were "Perfection" It's a slogan.

Glock is the only, and I mean only pistol that some people seem to think should not be made to perform better than factory.

Make sure the spring isn't side loaded on the trigger bar.
