I saw one recent comment that the Glock 43 firing pin was different than typical Glock firing pins. My 43 was purchased 4 weeks ago and I have fired 100 rounds. Born on date 6/3/15 so its new production. Functioned for the 100 rounds without issues, with a couple of ejects to the face. I noticed the teardrop shape to the hole but did not think anything of it at the time. Broke down the slide today to take a closer look. As you can tell for the pictures its very different than what I have seen or expected. As I was editing the pictures and looking closer at the details I am thinking it sure is strange, but can't say anything looks wrong without a second 43 to compare it to. The one thing than I did note is brass shavings on the firing pin side of the breech face. I included a couple of pictures of fired brass and you can see the typical primer abuse. Seems like more brass on the firing pin side of the breech face than I would expect for only 100 rounds. Another thing was the end mill took just a trace of metal off the face of the breech when the extractor slot was cut. Seems like a minor thing. Are others with 43's seeing the same I am? AJE, That's good to know. Seems like on the 42/43 Glock did more than just make it single stack.
Having worked in electronics for a lifetime it's easy to look at a change in that area and reverse engineer to some degree and see the purpose. While no stranger to firearms their changes mostly leave me scratching my head. Mike |
