Just bought a G26 and a Scherer Grip Plug was given to me to try out. It's not tight and see that will work it's way out. It's my cup of tea. Can anyone recommend one that will stay put and from where it may be purchased?

Clear silicone caulk works great, it very tenacious stuff and will never fall out.   Nice thing is you can easily remove it later if needed.

I don't think there's much difference between Scherer and Pearce.  Over the years I think I've had both.  Neither has capability to lock in place, they both are friction fit.  Adhesive is the way to go, unless you want to install a retaining screw of some kind (which is way overkill and nuts in my opinion).  As I said above, silicone caulk works very well.  Never had a plug come loose with it.

6 or more manufacturers with multiple designs.  Huh, must be a fad.

I was concerned with the friction fit as well, but it has never been a problem (yet )

I understood it just fine, you want a replacement grip plug since the one you have keeps falling out.

You seem to not understand that the hole you want to close up is to allow dirt, water and other debris to exit the handgun

the plug doesn't prevent the debris from exiting the critical areas of the handgun.  OTOH, it does prevent debris from entering the area.

Great idea in theory except it hasn't proven to be helpful or detrimental. If Glocks were locking up from a little scuz in the hole you'd hear about it with the hundreds of thousands of Glocks in service with military and police around the world. You don't because it's not an issue.

Stuffed in Joe Blow's appendix holster he bought because Travis Haley made it cool is way less severe of a use than riding in some cop's holster in the elements 10-16 hours a day. Of course if you dig it, do it. Just don't spout off about how accessory "x" is a necessity when all it does is fill a hole.

Ditto on the silicone. Can't remember if the plug I"ve got in my 26 is a pearce, Scherer, or Jentra but it would back out during firing and the silicone thing did the trick. Hasn't backed out again in 10 years.

Even though you didn't ask, in the interest of being full spectrum on a potential reason to not use a plug, I found it harder to rip the magazine out of the gun when clearing double feeds with a plug installed.

it should also be said that I have never had an actual naturally occurring double feed malfunction.
