So my wife got me a gen 4 G17 for fathers day. It'll be the big brother to my G26. What are the top\must have add ons or accessories for the 17? I'm planning to add an RMR at some point so I'm not too worried about upgrading the sights yet.

AMMO, is the most important thing to get for a Glock 17, IMHO everything else is GTG.

I almost always add night sights. The 17 fills the role of a nightstand gun perfectly. I would get a Surefire or Streamlight for it.

Mags, ammo, light and night sights where applicable.

It needs nothing else.

If this is going to be a carry or HD gun, you don't need a RMR on it.  Night sights will suffice.  But if you are set on getting a RMR on it, knock yourself out.  Magazines (and more of them) are always nice to get.  Makes going to they range a bit more fun when you don't have to reload magazines all the time.  I like to have a better trigger on my Glock pistols so at the least I'm installing an aftermarket connector and a spring set.  At the most, I'm installing a trigger kit.  Enjoy your new gun and be safe.

Heavy trigger reset spring, sights (but you do not need as you said), and if you want a longer slide stop.

I'm pretty set on getting an RMR. I don't have a real NEED for it, but who does? I just like them. I do need to put some better sights on my 26 since that's my carry gun. I was already looking at lights. What is the opinion of  the Inforce APL?

You could get the new Magpul mags for it.

I have 1 and love it on my Glocks never an issue. I don't think it is as bright as some of the others, but what are you trying to light it will blind you for sure.

It's ok.  My money will only go to X300 Ultras at this point.  They are much brighter and much, much tougher than APLs.

I just sent my slide into Glock for night sights.
